The Mariana trench is located in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of about 11500 m below the surface of the water. The density of seawater is 1025 kg/m^3.

If an underwater vehicle were to explore such a depth, what force would the water exert on the vehicle’s observation window (radius = 0.15 m)?

P=P[atm]+pgh= (10^5)+(1025*9.8*11500)= 1.16*10^8 Pa

F=PA= 1.16*10^8*pi*(.15^2)= 8.19*10^6 N= 6.19 Mega N
